There’s something almost spiritual about the way Mallory Chipman writes about the mundane. Imprinting wonder and curiosity upon each simple blade of grass and glass of beer she sings about, it’s no surprise that she is often compared to the legendary singer-songwriters of yore. Still, her sound is deeply idiosyncratic, and has “placed itself amidst the longer tradition of the great singer-songwriters” (Americana UK).

 

Mallory’s 2024 album, ‘Songs to a Wild God’, hit #1 on CKUA and #5 on the Folk International Charts, and has been featured on NPR, CBC, and SiriusXM Radio. Her recent EP ‘the time’ has been described as “a masterclass and a masterpiece” (Happy Mag Australia), and has cemented her reputation as an instant classic in Canada’s folk scene.

 

In 2026, Chipman was a nominee for Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and Roots Artist of the Year at the Country Music Alberta Awards. She has opened up for artists including Jann Arden and Madeleine Peyroux, and toured internationally.

 

Her forthcoming album, Court of Hope, will be out in 2027.
